Nicole booked with me 7+ months before the wedding date, also a month before Nick had proposed. She was looking for a photographer to shoot her east Idaho wedding. Nicole was also currently going to school in business and was planning on becoming a wedding planner – so in her words,

“I knew I had to jump on a good photographer FAST. I messaged Robin and we booked our engagement photos, bridals AND our wedding day photos. After one conversation with her I instantly knew she was the photographer for us.”

Nick and Nicole got engaged the next month in September, and we took their engagement photos shortly after at Palisades Reservoir on the Idaho/Wyoming border. I had always dreamed of doing photos here since I had grown up camping and boating with my family at this little hidden paradise. Their engagement photos were SO fun and it was great to finally meet them in person! Check out some of my favorite shots below!

We had many conversations leading up to the wedding day, planning and going over all the details to make sure I captured every moment exactly as Nicole and Nick had dreamed of! When Nicole explained the wedding theme to me, I was surprised since I had never seen a fantasy/fairy tale themed wedding before – but after she sent me her inspiration photos I had no doubt it would be STUNNING. And, it was.

I asked the couple why they wanted this wedding theme and they told me one of their favorite memories was binging the Lord of the Rings together. They also love D&D so they settled on a whimsical, magical theme including wildflowers, moss, keys, crowns, and twinkly fairy lights.

They decided to do their bridals/a first look a few days before the wedding day. Being an east Idaho wedding photographer, I knew the perfect area that would fit their fantasy theme. We went into the woods for these photos, the snow still on the ground made the perfect back drop for one of my favorite flat lay photos I’ve shot to date!!

You can literally see the love they have for each other in these photos. I’ve noticed through all my interactions with this fun couple that every time Nick talks about Nicole, his voice instantly softens. Now THAT is love people.

Another impressive note to mention – Nicole did all the flower arrangements HERSELF. Yes, you read that right. She really wanted to do her own flowers – so she settled on faux flowers, which were beautiful. This girl is an artistic, creative genius. She made so many things for their wedding – and NONE of it looked home-made. Her instagram page is here if you would like to see more of her work!

Now for the WEDDING!! You are NOT ready for these photos. This east Idaho wedding/northern Utah wedding was absolutely beautiful, and there was not one dull moment all day. I delivered many, many photos from this day just because there was always something fun happening every minute! Definitely one of the most exciting weddings I’ve ever photographed!

We started the day with getting ready photos at The Quality Inn in Logan! All the bridesmaids were FULL of energy at 7:30 am, ready for the exciting day ahead!! Nicole did her own makeup, with her cousin Tricia doing her hair. All of the bridesmaids were so sweet and fun and made these photos a blast.

We then headed over to the Logan Utah Temple. Nick chose the temple for where they were to be sealed at. “It was conveniently placed in a nice area, beautiful, and it fit the theme!”, are his words. This was especially an important temple to Nicole’s mom, making it the perfect spot for their sealing for everyone.

The moment Nicole and Nick at the temple was Nicole’s favorite part of the day, “I was having a panic attack because I was running late and I’m like about to be sealed… for eternity… even if you’ve been together for years eternity can seem so scary especially when you haven’t seen your partner all morning. So finally meeting in the temple and having a moment in the elevator. He instantly calmed me and all my worries went away.”

I loved that this was her favorite moment. Also, remember how I mentioned Nicole was a creative genius? She MADE the bridesmaid’s hoops… you’ll have to look at them below. They are so intricate and personalized for each of her bridesmaids.

After the sealing, everyone headed up to Cherry Peak Ski Resort for the ring ceremony, dinner, and reception! This is where the fairy tale/fantasy wedding theme really shines. The decor was so fun to photograph and Nicole got ready again. Nicole had a different dress for this part of the day, and it was from Fantasy Bridal in Salt Lake City.

The ring ceremony was outside with the beautiful lodge wood as the backdrop. Once everyone was ready, the music started and everyone made their way to their designated spots. There were so many smiles and tears of joy as this couple exchanged rings signifying their forever promises to each other.

Dinner was then served, catered by Firehouse Pizza. Following dinner and socializing, dancing started! The first dance, father daughter dance, mother son dance, and a special surprise dance choreographed by the bride and her mother! The couple then played “the shoe game” and did the garter toss! The activities were fun for everyone in attendance at this beautiful east Idaho wedding!

After cutting their beautiful cake made by Shaffer House Bakery, it was dancing the rest of the night! Nicole and her bridesmaids did some additional makeup to look like fairies, taking this theme to the next level!! After dancing with their friends and family to celebrate, Nick and Nicole did a dance together at the end of the night, just them. Nick said this about their dance,

“…it was the only moment we were able to be completely ourselves without anyone watching or any distractions. We literally had this one moment of raw love and life with a song that means a lot to us to wrap the night up.”

They then had exited and headed out to their honeymoon as Mr. & Mrs. Cable!! Congratulations to the happy, adorable couple! Photographing all these moments was an absolute HONOR and I’m so grateful to have met & become friends with you two.
